Small Extensions
A selection of a few smaller scale extensions
Over the years Studio J Architects have worked on numerous small extensions. Although these projects are on the smaller scale compared to some projects we do, we still love to work on them and get great satisfaction from seeing how they can transform a house.
We also appreciate that, even though it may be a relatively small project for us, it is likely to be a big deal for the client. Not just financially but often emotionally too.
The most common “small” projects we work on are single storey rear extensions. Opening up to the existing kitchen and dining room to create a larger open plan kitchen-dining-living room. Spaces like these are really popular in modern living and transform how the occupants live in their home.
Some house types may initially seem that they are the same. However, on closer inspection all houses have their differences. From sloping sites to quirks of the original design, they all impact on how an extension could be designed. This, coupled with specific client requirements, means that no two designs are ever the same. Creating a bespoke design to the homeowner is key for a successful project.
