The project is for a modest 2 storey extension to an existing 1960’s house within the conservation area of Geldhow, north Leeds.
The existing house is part of an interesting development which, at the time, will have been seen as striking modern design. This offered the opportunity to create a new addition to the building with a new contemporary architectural style.
Taking influence from the existing building form the design creates two new “boxes” over lapping one another, but with a dramatic first floor cantilever over the garden patio area. These are then finished in a more contemporary style, with the ground floor in crisp white render and the first floor in timber cladding. Strategically positioned windows are then used to help frame the views of the adjacent woods.
Internally the extension accommodates a new dining area for the kitchen, with better access to the garden via glazed bi-fold doors and at first floor there is a new master bedroom.
Following this planning approval construction is anticipated to start next spring / summer.
